The color scheme, the pencil-sketch sprites, the comic book esc panels! So so yummy. This is visually so beautiful and the writing was really gripping as well. I feel like I really got to look at a tiny part of these guys’ lives. Really nice work!

You manage to create such a strong atmosphere with your writing, it’s increadibly impressive. The visuals complimented this atmosphere perfectly and made the whole experience feel whole. The story left me with such a surreal feeling, I’ll be going over it in my mind for a while. Just a stunning piece. I’m very glad I got to play it!
Oh the monochrome with the red details is such a nice aesthetic and you used it wonderfully in this. I love a good angsty story so this really hit that spot for me. Monochrome is also such an interesting character that I’d love to see more of in the future. I also love your artstyle a lot! Especially that final image of Farah is so so pretty! Nice work!
Naarel has done it again. Man, your writing always scratches my brain in the best of ways. I love how you used the staging and visuals to amplify the narrative. Every little part felt intentional and thought out which made the experience feel very complete. While it may not have been the intention, it did resonate very transgenderly with me and I love the fact that the vagueness of the “You” can lead to a wide array of interpretations. This was so well made, thank you for letting me experience it!
Look, I knew something was probably off due to the theme, but still, I couldn’t help but want to trust that sweet face of his :( The reveal really sent chills down my spine, it was so well executed. I really loved the small bits of foreshadowing that one wouldn’t even think of if it wasn’t for the twist! Art direction was really nice, I really loved the color scheme. And that sprite!! chef’s kiss
I’m honesly awestruck and don’t really know how to describe the emotions this made me feel. It’s written so beautifully and the painterly backgrounds really add to the poetic feeling of it all. I hope for our main character to get their chance to fly one day :’) Thank you for making this, it’s definitely gonna stick with me!
Man that was creepy! The whole vibe with the eerie music together with the story was just so good. With multiple CGs I felt like Alphius was looking at me while I was reading, it was really freaky. The whole mirror scene was fantastic, both creepy and angsty, just how I like it.
I also especially adore that first image of Alphius! He looks like such a sweet little man <333
This was such a well written and paced story! You really managed to capture that feeling of something being “off” without it being too forceful. I loved how real and vivid the characters felt as well, it really gives the reader a clear image of “this is supposed to be my everyday life but something is off”. Very well executed.
The CG was also super cute! I really loved how you used the vivid colors to symbolize the characters against the otherwise monochrome aesthetic. Awesome work!
Oh man I fucking love a good balanced toxic dynamic! The codependency, the denial of feelings, the love, the angst. All just so so delicious. I genuinely have no idea how you managed to make this in 36 hours. The story felt really well planned out and the flashbacks made for great pacing. I really liked playing through both of the paths and really can’t choose which ending I liked best.
The art and UI was also great. An animated sprite (plus custom UI) in this timeframe is actually insane and Cypress is so pretty. I love a messy blonde <3 Just overall very impressive and great work!
I don’t know if I love or hate you guys for making this,,, I was screaming at my screen at times (when i get you geofrey, i swear) and could feel my pulse rising. Very accurate depiction of both characters I’ve been unfortunate enough to stumple into at some point and others I hope to never encounter irl. Very impressive how immersive this was, I felt the need to somehow get bunbun and pops out of there myself (just stop working pls its not worth it i promise),,,
I have absolutely no idea how you managed to write this much is such little time and make is so coheisive, especially with all the different private chats etc. Stellar work, truly.
Also loved the color scheme of the UI, so very nice and colorful without being hard on the eyes at all!
And the music!! Rom you absolute madlad. Such catchy tracks all of them. I had lots of fun going through them throughout the game :)
Loooved the 2000s indie otome vibe this had, especially the main menu and music, so so cute! Idk how to explain it but you captured that floaty dreamy feeling perfectly.
The story was really captivating and motivating. I needed a good reminder of how important it is to not make art for the sake of validation, and to lean into ones own creativity.
Super impressed you managed to do this much in such a short time, A DRESS UP GAME EVEN??? Insane.
And lastly “I feel just as lonely in this box as I would outside of one.” is just such a great line, I had to stop and stare for a bit and then write it down lol. Great work!
so glad you liked the aesthetics so much! my main goal this jam was to have a little 2 day art-project time
i kind of let the writing just happen without thinking too much of the message (even tho i did have a semi-clear view of what i wanted to say) with this. i had a vision and was unsure if it came across propely so im so glad to see that you got it, that you got role the creature. your thoughts on it actually made my own understading more clear to me in some ways :’)
thank you so so much for taking your time to write out your thoughts this extensively! it means a lot and im so glad you liked this strange creation of mine.
wowowow thank you so much for such an extensive review!! it really made my day reading through it :3 it’s been a while since i made this game but im pretty sure the initial idea was for it to be really silly and not deep at all. but my desire to write angst caught up with me (as it always does) and ignatius ended up a lot more angsty than planned hehe. i’m really glad you liked it and especially that the pacing felt good. i really wanted to avoid having their relationship feel unnatural and rushed due to the length of the game.
thank you again so much for taking your time to write out your thoughts, you’re a blessing to small devs!
(also so sorry for replying so late, i wrote this out once before but it aparently got deleted ;-;)
thank you!! do you mean this piano piece perhaps? https://dova-s.jp/bgm/play16325.html here’s the link to the original uploader :3
your writing really is something special. this was wonderful. so immersive and gripping. i love how you add just enough information to piece the story together and still manage to make the world feel “big” and real. i was there, i felt all of that. it was unpleasant and wonderful and i felt understood somehow <3
OH MY GODD!!! this was absolutely fantastic, i don’t even know where to begin! i’m such a sucker for christian imagery/themes mixed with queerness and this definitely hit the spot. with the horror and angst sprinkled in, this feels made in a lab for me fr.
the writing is absolutely fantastic! the witty dialogue made me laugh out loud several times and the yoyo’s inner thoughts are so well written and gripping. it creates a really nice contrast. the voice acting is splendid as well and elavates the dialogue even further. my attention span struggles some times when reading but this had me seated from start to finish, no problem. the music and visuals set the atmosphere super well right from the start.
anyway, im really invested and can’t wait for the continuation. amazing work, can’t praise it enough!
I’ve been waiting to write this until I finished rating all the entries but now it’s time :)
Let me start with a bit of a sappy love letter to the jam itself. Multiple people have already said it but the Velox jams have this cozy little community around it that feels really special. This was only my second Velox jam but I felt the same surge of inspiration and motivation as last time. It’s a place to create something purely for the love of the genre and for the love of creating. Despite the ranking and the voting, it doesn’t feel like a competition. It feels like an oportunity to put something out there and actually have other people look at it, and to then give the same appreciation back.
Playing thorugh all the games has been such a blast and I’m so impressed with what people managed to accomplish in just 10 days. So many amazing VNs, many that will stay with me for a long time for sure! I have this deep love for passion projects and every single game truly felt like a labour of love. Every game also gave me something I want to work into my own future projects. I just want to create more now raahhhh!!!
As for my own entry, I might write a proper devlog later, we’ll see. But I will share some throughts in short! I thought 10 days would make me less stressed after I managed to get through Formido without crunching… I was wrong. 10 days felt so long that I started putting things off and went into procrastination mode. Somehow I still managed everything I wanted to put in the game (even a simple CG that I almost scrapped from the plan due to lack of time!). My biggest issue this time around was the writing. I wrote most of the script in the first 2 days and then spent a week not knowing how I wanted the game to end… I wrote the finishing lines (of the good end) in the last hours of the jam, when everything else was already done. I’m still not sure I like how I wrote it, but at least it is done!
I also tried a lot of new things for this jam! After Formido, where most of my focus was on the narrative, I wanted to focus on art direction. I had a lot of fun designing the UI and trying to make everythingn look cohesive. Pixel art was another new experience this project. While I have done simple pixel graphics once before for a game, high resolution pixel art was a new world for me, and it was so fun!! I did struggle a bit getting the art to show up nicely in ren’py at first but once I managed to put it all together, I was really satisfied. I’m honestly so happy with how the graphics turned out for this game and can’t wait to work on something similar again in the future!
I think that’s all for me! Thank you Robobarbie and Allie Vera for hosting once again! And thanks to all my fellow participants for making this jam so awesome! I hope to see you all around for the next Velox <3
Really liked this one! I got very attached to Leo and loved seeing his and Sirius’ relationship unfold through the flashbacks. It felt very complete and well planned for something being made in 10 days. Also very cool seeing those intimidating speech bubbles being used! I only had time to finish 2 endings for now but will definitely go back to experience the others!
So impressed by the multiple messaging systems!! I know nothing about MMOs but the overall online friends drama was still very relatable and the chat lingo was spot on. It got me feeling really uneasy and truly captured the weird god complex of some “popular” people you meet in online spaces. I did get a bit confused by all the user names but then again, I’m the same with online names in general…
