i know about the tendency of developers to underestimate how good they are at their own games but holy shit, this is one of the most ball-blisteringly hard games i've ever played. it's all but impossible to not crash face first into the ghosts and lose all of your string instantly, especially when they spawn directly behind you at a wall. most of my runs i was lucky if i could get even three eyes without losing everything. i don't feel like i "won" because i Got Good™️, i feel like i won because i bashed my head against a rock enough times that the rock cracked. thank god for the instant [r]estart button...
the music and art is really cute though so it balances out
op's instructions managed to get it to boot, but it maxes out my cpu in any room bigger than a screen and slows to an abysmal crawl. to be fair my computer is quite old at this point, but i don't think whatever this game is doing should require that much. maybe it's trying to emulate vulcan?
update: tried lemonjacob's advice and it runs smoothly now. thanks!
a couple of parts could have done with some difficulty tweaks [specifically the top right and bottom two areas - i am genuinely unsure if it's possible to complete them without taking damage], but this was lovely. i thought the "twist" of the ending was quite clever too. glad to hear you'll be working on larger things in the future!
i've played through this twice and i still don't get it at all. there doesn't seem to be any point in almost the entire house outside of flavour - which would be fine if that was the intention, but then why bother with the key? and why have a cow in the secret room? is this game /supposed/ to be a string of complete nonsequiturs? is there some kind of background information i'm supposed to know, or something?
also, trying to instantly walk back outside when you enter the ship softlocks you in the void.
so the tutorial seems to work fine, but clicking the campaign results in a vivid blank magenta screen. also, the title screen mentions that you can turn off the glitch effect in the options menu, but all i see are volume options?
this looks quite interesting though, i'm interested to see where it goes.
